Norma Kay Smith Gill of Circle Tree Drive, Beckley, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, in a Charleston hospital. Norma was 56 years of age.
Born on September 16, 1953, in McAlpin, she was the daughter of the late Elbert and Mary Hobbs Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband Billy Joe Gill, his parents Cleo J. and Georgia Mae Gill and by three brothers: E.O. "Cap" Smith, Larry Smith and Fred Smith.
Norma loved people, loved to help people and she never met a stranger. She enjoyed being outside working in the flower and vegetable gardens and spending time at her camp on the river. Mostly though, she loved being with her friends and her family, especially her pride and joy, her grandson D.J.
Survivors include her daughter, Billie Jo Sparks and husband Randy Zene of Sophia; her son, Joseph Gill and wife Leigha of Beckley, and their son D.J.; her companion, Bobby Buskus, and his daughters Jennifer, Meredith and Brittany and their families. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters: Patricia Page and husband Guy, Bertha Griffith and husband Steve, Margaret Jaworski and husband David, Randy Smith and wife Lillian and Chris Smith and wife Diane and by her sisters and brothers-in-law: Lynn Moore and husband Clarence, Jackie Sandy and husband Mitch, George Gill and wife Sande, Della Gill, Ronnie Gill and wife Denise, Rhoda Moore and husband Johnny, Dee Houck and husband John and Katherine Gill.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 20th, in the Mabscott Holiness Church with the Rev. E.G. "Buzz" Keller and Rev. Pat Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Beckley. Friends may call Sunday from 1 p.m. until the service time.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
