CLINTONVILLE ? Joe Simms, 67, of Hundley Road, passed away early Wednesday morning, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Ronceverte, following a short illness.
Born March 15, 1944, at Springdale, W.Va., he was the son of the late Joseph Ray and Althea L. Ford Simms.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Simms; two sisters, Cheryl Sparks and Patricia Simms; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Michelle Sims and Joseph Murphy Sims.
Joe loved all animals, but especially birds and chickens. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Joe had served in the National Guard, and was a former auto mechanic at a Chevrolet factory in Michigan.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Connie Lee Neil Simms of Clintonville, who would have been married 46 years on February 5th; three daughters, Tamala Gipson (Timothy) of Meadow Bridge, Amy Bennett (William) of Nettie, and Johanna Simms of Rupert; four sons, Scott Sims (Connie) of Lewisburg, Jason Simms of Quinwood, Joshua Simms (Kim) of Clintonville, and Gerald Simms of Quinwood; four sisters, Sharon Lepley of Daniels, Kathy Cales (Otis) of Smoot, Judi Feazell of Fayetteville, and Betty Plumley (Richard) of Meadow Bridge; three brothers, Forrest "Doogie" Simms (Cindy) of Woodbridge, Va., Kevin Simms (Lucinda) of Rainelle, and Tony Simms of Beckley; two brothers-in-law, Roger Sparks of Clintonville, and Homer Neil of Lewisburg; 18 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly...
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at Wallace and Wallace Chapel in Rainelle with Pastor Otis Cales officiating. Burial will follow at Wickline Cemetery of Meadow Bridge.
Friends may call from 12 noon to 2 p.m. (or two hours prior to the service) at the funeral home.
