OAK HILL — Our devoted mother and grandmother, Ode Ioa Rice Pittsenbarger, 93, of Oak Hill, W.Va., died on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, W.Va.
Born January 12, 1916, at Erwin, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Rufus and Lilly Rice.
A resident of Oak Hill since 1969, Ode was a faithful member of the Oak Hill Apostolic Holiness Church for 43 years. She was a very faithful saint of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Chalmer Harold Pittsenbarger; a brother, Clark Rice; and sisters, Rebecca, Kelly, May, Zenna, Estelle, Elsie, Jessie and Pansy.
Survivors include son, Harold "Skip" Pittsenbarger and wife, Drema, of Louisville, Ky., granddaughter, Christy McClary and husband, Rob, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., grandson, Michael Pittsenbarger and wife, Britney, of Tuscaloosa, three and one-half great-grandchildren, John Mark McClary, Amanda McClary and Chloe Pittsenbarger all of Tuscaloosa and Kelli Pittsenbarger who is to be born in March of 2010, as well as Peggy Ballard and husband, Danny, also of Tuscaloosa.
Services will be on Friday, January 1, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Apostolic Holiness Church in Oak Hill with Rev. Carlos Lewis and Evangelist Erik Lewis officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Friends may call two hours prior to the service today at the church.
