COLUMBIA, S.C. - Thelma Frances Wygal Hamblin, 84, of Columbia, formerly of Falls View, W.Va., died Feb. 22, 1999, at the home of her daughter, Mary Ann Hamblin Young of Columbia.
She was a member of Montgomery (W.Va.) Methodist Church, was instrumental in organizing and was former president of the Montgomery Pilot Club and held district office of the Ohio-Kentucky-West Virginia organization of Pilot International. She was also a member of Montgomery Women's Club, Laird Memorial Hospital Nurses Alumni and the Kanawha County and West Virginia retired school employees associations. She was a registered nurse, a graduate of Coal Valley Hospital School of Nursing and did post-graduate studies at West Virginia University. She was a former employee of Laird Memorial Hospital, Eastern Gas and Fuel Associates and was a retired Kanawha County school nurse with more than 25 years' service.
Also surviving: sister, Irene Wygal Treadwell of Lansing, Mich.; brother, Ed Wygal of Oak Hill, W.Va.; grandsons, Dana Patrick Young of Charlotte, N.C., Bradley Hamblin Young of Charleston, S.C.; two great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Montgomery United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cathy Jamison-Ogg and the Rev. John Smith officiating. Burial will be in Huse Memorial Cemetery, Fayetteville, W.Va. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, and one hour prior to service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Montgomery Methodist Church, Montgomery, WV 25136, or Palmetto Baptist Hospital Hospice, Columbia, S.C.
