Roger Dean Griffith, 85, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006, following a short illness.
He was born Jan. 26, 1921, in Bluffton, Ohio, and grew up in Logan and Beckley. He held a degree in pharmacy from West Virginia University where he was president of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He then graduated from Midshipman School at Northwestern University and served with the Navy in the Pacific Theatre. At the war's conclusion, Roger worked at Scott Brothers Pharmacy and owned Trivillian's Pharmacy for 28 years. Roger and his wife, the late Ann Griffith of the Charleston Daily Mail, traveled the world, visiting more than 37 countries. He was a member of Village Chapel Presbyterian Church, a former board member of City National Bank, was active with the Friendship Force and served on the resident association council of Edgewood Summit.
He is survived by a daughter, Carolanne Griffith (John) Roberts of Birmingham, Ala., Beth Griffith (David) Reisman of Cincinnati, Ohio; a grandson, Fletcher Haines Griffith Roberts; two granddaughters, Rachel and Sarah Reisman; and dear friend, Ruth Ellison.
A memorial service is set for 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at Edgewood Country Club.
