MOUNT HOPE ? Alma Louise McVey, 79, of Mount Hope, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2008, at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.
Born Aug. 11, 1928, at Ansted, the daughter of the late Edward Hansford Cavendish and Lelia Mae McClary Cavendish.
Alma was a hairdresser and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Oak Hill.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Meredith Cavendish.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Gus McVey; daughters, Beverly Williams of Oak Hill, Elayne Tolley of Mount Hope, and Patricia Metzer and husband John of Union; a son, John Tolley and wife Roberta of Lookout; a sister, Margie Blankenship of Greenville, S.C.; a brother, Gerald Cavendish of Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Her remains rest at the High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, 1435 E. Main St., Oak Hill, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Calvary Baptist Church, 1424 E. Main St., Oak Hill, with the Rev. Houston Boothe officiating. Entombment will follow in Rest Lawn Memory Gardens in Victor.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to St. Jude Children?s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to the Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.
