LEWISBURG ? On Sept. 12, 2006, Neva Tincher Small, 90, of Lewisburg, formerly of Rupert, went home to be with the Lord at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
Born Oct. 25, 1915, she was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey Edgar and Effie Osborne Tincher; husband, James Curtis Small; son, Gerald Small; and siblings, Kyle and Robert Tincher, Virginia Canfield and Eula Dixon.
Neva is survived by her son, Larry Small and wife, Peggy, of Lewisburg; granddaughter, Lynda Allen and husband, Shane; stepgranddaughters, Rhonda Adkins and Brandi Small; and stepgrandson, Robert Adkins and wife, Jeni.
Neva was blessed by the presence in her life of great-granddaughter Rhiannon Allen, and stepgreat-grandsons Trey and Hunter Adkins.
Neva will be greatly missed by beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews, both in the Tincher and Small families.
For more than 50 years, Neva was an active member of Big Clear Creek Baptist Church in Rupert. Her love for her church was evident by her presence and service. She was an active member of the American Baptist Women.
Living most of her life in the Rupert area, Neva was a homemaker, a restaurant and store owner, an ever willing volunteer, an avid Scrabble player and a friend to all.
She retired from Greenbrier County Schools, having worked as a reading aide at Rupert School.
Neva had been an active member of the Rupert Homemakers, Rupert Women?s Club and Senior Friends.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Smathers Funeral Chapel, Rainelle. Burial will follow at the End of the Trail Cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends may call two hours before service Friday at the funeral chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite church or charity.
