  The Charleston Gazette, 19 July 1988 MRS. MARY MADELINE PHILLIPS, 59, of Alderson, Greenbrier County, died July 17, 1988, in Humana Hospital Greenbrier Valley, Fairlea, after a long illness. She was a lifelong resident of Alderson and was a member of Grace Bible Church, Asbury. She was an employee at Combustion Engineering, Lewisburg, with 22 years service. She was born in Beckley. Surviving: husband, Roy H. Phillips; daughters, Carolyn Eggleston and Barbara Merritt, both of Alderson, Phyllis Cruse of Fairlea; sisters, Mildred Estep and Martha Estep, both of Huntington, Gertrude Estep of Asbury; brothers, Johnny Jones of Asbury, James Jones of Alderson; three grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lobban Funeral Home, Alderson, with the Rev. Charles Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Alderson Cemetery, Alderson.
