CLINTONVILLE - Murrell Oran Hanna, 81, of Clintonville, passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at his home following a short illness.
Born September 19, 1930, at Clintonville, he was the son of the late Oran D. and Bessie M. Hundley Hanna.
Murrell worked in the coal mines, at Meadow River Lumber Company, cut timber and enjoyed farming. He was a great turkey hunter. He was a life-long member of the Clintonville Church of Christ and a member of the UMWA.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son Keith Hanna; one brother Melvin Hanna and one sister Marcelle Boggs.
Survivors include his wife of over 63 years, Nellie Price Hanna; three sons Murlin Hanna and wife Sheila of Clintonville, Richard Hanna of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Kenneth Hanna of Clintonville; three daughters Sharon Hanna of Clintonville, Kathy McClanahan of Fairlea and Debra Haynes and husband Douglas of Clintonville; three brothers Max Hanna and wife Thelma of New Mexico, Maynard Hanna and wife Judith of Clintonville and Millard Hanna and wife Shirley of Rockville, Maryland; two sisters Meredith Lee of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Mona Buffington of Rainelle; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at Smathers Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Church of Christ Cemetery at Clintonville.
Friends may call one hour before the service from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
