BASIL S. PATTERSON, 63, of White Sulphur Springs, died Oct. 29, 1987, in a hunting camp near Sweet Springs of an apparent heart attack. He was born in Clintonville. He was a retired carpenter and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of VFW and attended the Baptist Church. Surviving: wife, Gertrude Lockhart Patterson; daughter, Cynthia P. Scott of White Sulphur Springs; mother, Mrs. Meda Henson Patterson of Clintonville; brothers, Sandy of Caldwell, Nelson of Alderson, Jessie of Maryland, Orville, Marion and Charles, all of North Carolina, Carey of Kentucky, Willard of Florida; sisters, Mrs. Mary Etta Bryant of Clintonville, Mrs. Nora Frances Hughes of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Violet Guyton of South Carolina. Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs, with the Rev. William Starkey officiating. Burial will be in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
