Wife Held In Slaying
LEWISBURG (RNS) - Mrs. Margaret Pickering, 44, of White Sulphur Springs has been charged with murder following the fatal shooling of her husband, Robert E. Pickering, 53, Thursday afternoon, according to Sheriff Eugene Spence.
Spence said the shooting occurred about 3 p.m. at the couple's home on Alvon Road and apparently stemmed from a family argument.
Mrs. Pickering is in the Greenbrier County Jail at Lewisburg and a preliminary hearing is scheduled today.
Pickering's body is at Shanklin Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs.

Robert Pickering Dies Of Wounds
WHITE SULPHUR (RNS) - Robert Eugene (Bob) Pickering, 53, of White Sulphur Springs died Thursday afternoon at his home.
Born near New Market, Va., July 9, 1915, he was a son of the late Thomas and Polly Jane Reed Pickering.
He attended the Methodist Church, was a veteran ot World War II, and was employed by the Neilhouse Hotel in Columbus, Ohio and previously had been employed by the Greenbrier Hotel.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margaret Hunter Pickering; four sons, Randolph Stephen, Gary Lee, Danny Ray and Robert Eugene II, all at home; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Lou Pickering Miller of Covington, Va., and Miss Margaret Sharon, at home and two brothers, John Richard of Lewistown, Mont., and William R. (Pete) of Lewisburg.
The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Emmanuel Methodist Church at White sulphur Springs with Rev. Douglas Sheppard in charge. Burial will be in Rosewood Cemetery at Lewisburg with military rites.
The body will remain at the Shanklin Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. today.
Pallbearers will be Pete Alderman, Bill Wilson, James (Bud) While, Earl Rumyon, Robert Burgess, Gary Fitting, George Kattis, and Charles Vallandingham.
