Nancy J. Botkin, 73, of Charleston died Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Nancy was an active parishioner of Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral, Charleston. She was head of the Fertility Care Center of Charleston and president-elect of American Academy of Natural Family Planning, Omaha, Neb. She taught natural family planning for over 25 years. Nancy was a member of West Virginians for Life.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Luther E. "Sleepy" Botkin Jr.; mother, Anna Lucille Rectenwald; and father, Francis English Rectenwald.
Nancy is survived by her daughters, Bunnie Botkin Perrine and Brenda Botkin Lovejoy, both of Charleston, and Sharon Botkin Shank of Charlotte, N.C.; son, William E. ?Bill? Botkin of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren, April, Lee, Kelley and Kyle Shank, all of Charlotte, N.C., Carrie Perrine of Waukesha, Wis., Andrew Perrine of Charleston, Belinda and Matthew Lovejoy of Charleston, Jeremie Lovejoy of New River, N.C., and Hannah Botkin of Charlotte, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Zachary Adkins and Taylor Wilfong of Charleston and Judd Shank of Charlotte, N.C.; brother, Mr. William F. Rectenwald of Charleston; and sisters, Mrs. Frances Corns of Hobe Sound, Fla., Mrs. Jean Naylor of St. Albans and Mrs. June Ann Lindner of Charleston.
Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral with Monsignor P. Edward Sadie and the Rev. Timothy J. Grassi officiating. Burial will be in Elk Hills Memorial Gardens, Big Chimney.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bartlett-Burdette-Cox Funeral Home where there will be a rosary service held at 7:45 p.m. Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Nancy's name to Pope Paul VI Institute, 6901 Mercy Road, Omaha, NE 68106. Envelopes will be provided by the funeral home.
Bartlett-Burdette-Cox Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
