  The Charleston Gazette, 9 October 1974 ANSTED - Julian C. Skaggs, 68, of Ansted, died Tuesday in Charleston Memorial Hospital. He was a retired employee of Union Carbide. Surviving: wife, Elizabeth; daughters, Mrs. Martha Craver of Dover, Del., Miss Elizabeth Skaggs of Buckhannon; sons, Julian C. of West Chester, Pa., Geoffrey of Buckhannon, Stephen at home; brother, Kenneth Skaggs of Ansted; sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Barney of Ansted, Mrs. Barbara Pinkelton of Ansted, Mrs. Thelma Redmond of Catlin, Ill.; 10 grandchildren. The body was cremated. Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Joe Combs Funeral Home, Ansted. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
