MONTCALM - Carolyn "Sis" Gills Laenen, 65, of P.O. Box 95, Montcalm, died on Sunday, May 2, 2004 at a Hilliard, Ohio nursing home.
Born on Aug. 7, 1938 in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late Vanis H. and Virginia Sigmon Gills. She had been a resident of Montcalm for 15 years and was a graduate of Montcalm High School. She attended the Montcalm Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a very active in the Montcalm community with civic and charitable projects.
Survivors include husband, Joe Laenen of the home; two sons, Joe Laenen of Montcalm and Steven Pennington of Hilliard; one daughter, Lisa Zornes of Cape Coral, Fla.; four grandchildren, Logan and Jessie Pennington and Alex and Eric Zornes; two sisters, Sue Gaither and husband, Rusty of Bluewell and Shelby Mullins of Hilliard; nieces and nephews, Tim Mullins, Jeff Mullins, Kazan Patrick, Christie Gaither, and Jenny Day; and great-nieces and nephews, Tyler, Jason and Heather Patrick and Brittany Mullins.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with the Rev. R. C. Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Vista Care of Ohio or Community Hospices of America.
