HILLTOP - Philip A. McClung, 79, of Hilltop, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, at Danville Regional Medical Center, Danville, Va., after a long illness.
Born Oct. 25, 1927, at Red Star, he was a son of the late Allen and Clara Argabright McClung.
Mr. McClung was retired from CSX Railroad with 47 years of service. He was a member of the Red Star Baptist Church, Brotherhood of Railroad Workers, and a charter member of the Thurmond Rescue Squad.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Penny McClung; one sister, Cortella Eastham; two brothers, Oather and Donald McClung.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lillian Underwood McClung; two sons, Philip McClung and his wife Robin of Martinsville, Va., and Paul McClung of Hilltop; one daughter, Patty McCormick and her husband Leon of Hilltop; one brother, William McClung of Parma, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill, with Rev. David Pollack and Rev. Randy Sunderland officiating. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
