Charles P. Kessler, 67, of Chelyan died Nov. 19, 2001, at home after a long illness. He was a member of Coalburg Church of Jesus Christ, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of UMWA. Surviving are: wife, Betty Allison Kessler of Chelyan; son, Bill Kessler of North Carolina; daughters, JoAnn Williams of East Bank, Ileen Kessler of Mesa, Ariz., Connie Kessler of Tennessee; sisters, Mary Perdue and Margaret Reid, both of Beckley, Charlotte Burgess of North Carolina, Marie Cornell of Florida, Janet Williams and June Tolliver, both of Ohio; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet, with the Rev. Cheyenne Stevens and the Rev. Timmy Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Surviving are: sons, Bill Kessler of North Carolina, Andy Rae Matheney of Florida; daughters, Eileen "Sis" Kessler of Mesa, Ariz., Connie Kessler and Rachel Ann Matheney, both of Tennessee, Sandra "Sambo" Cotton of West Virginia, JoAnn Williams of East Bank; sisters, Mary Perdue and Margaret Reid, both of Beckley, Charlotte Burgess of North Carolina, Marie Cornell of Florida, Janet Williams and June Tolliver, both of Ohio; wife, Betty Allison Kessler of Chelyan; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. I would also like to give a special thanks to a special niece, Tammi Burgess, for the caregiving. Tammi lives in North Carolina. Charles was buried in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.
