Golden M. Pettry Jr., of Arnett, died Sunday, March 13, 2005, after a short illness. He was born Jan. 16, 1922, at Arnett, W.Va., a son of the late Golden and Jesse Wills Pettry, Sr. Mr. Pettry was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, where he served in the Pacific Theater, and was a member of he VFW, Bolt, W.Va. He was also a member of the Rifleman's Association. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ollie Milem; and brother, Zennis Earl Pettry. He is survived by his companion, Doris Hall, of Arnett; two daughters, Elaine Pettry of Collegeville, Pa., and Paula Davis and husband, James, of Harper; two sons, John Pettry of Norristown, Pa., and Golden Pettry III and wife, Theresa, of Paoli, Pa.; a sister, Katrina Wills of Arnett; a brother, Michael Pettry and wife, Pat, of Pine Branch, W.Va.; a loving aunt, Edna Wills of Arnett; grandchildren, Jennifer Rhodes and husband, Andrew, Angela Bagnell and husband, Clive, Benjamin Golden Pettry, and James Matthew Davis; and a great-grandchild, Andrew Rhodes. Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Arnett Chapel at Arnett. Burial will follow in Wills Cemetery at Arnett. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church.
