LEWISBURG - Dr. Robert Morris Ferrell, 96, passed away Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at home.
Born Dec. 30, 1912, at Talcott, W.Va., he was the son of Ashby David and Annie Catherine Kesler Ferrell.
Dr. Ferrell had been a resident of the Lewisburg area since 1949; he was a retired Ophthalmologist and Otolaryngologist, a member and former Deacon and Elder of Old Stone Presbyterian Church. A member of the American Legion, the Lion?s Club, Greenbrier Valley Medical Association, West Virginia Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Association, the American Medical Society and the A.M.A.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathlene McClung Ferrell, and sister, Merle Branaman.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathlene Ann Harrington and husband, William, of Lewisburg, and Patricia Lois Bashen and husband, Keith, of Lewisburg; a son, Robert M. Ferrell II of Chantilly, Va.; grandchildren, Glenn Lee Lehman and wife, Shannon, of Lewisburg, Robert Shumate IV of Chicago, Ill., and Christopher Bashen of Chicago, Ill.; and two great-grandchildren, John Ferrell Lehman and Jessica Kathlene Lehman of Lewisburg.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Rosewood Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Dexter Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Rosewood Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Old Stone Presbyterian Church.
