Calvin Leslie Jones, 82, of Piney View, went to be with the Lord Saturday, May 27, 2006.
Born Dec. 14, 1924 at Lawton, he was the son of the late Buery and Lula Hunter Jones.
Calvin loved hunting and fishing, and was a disabled coal miner; he was of the Baptist faith.
He served his country proudly in United States Army during World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Arbuta Burnett Jones; a son, Denzil Jones; and three brothers, Harry Jones Sr., Thelmar Jones, and Grover Jones.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Drema Harris and husband, Robert, of Beckley, Doris Underwood of Beckley, and Darlene Meadows and husband, John, of Glen Daniel; a son, David Jones and wife, Vanessa, of the Beckley area; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; sisters, Verta Pomeroy and Edna Morris; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Zelta Legg, and family.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with Pastor Phillip Lilly officiating. Burial will follow in the Bradley Cemetery, Bradley.
Family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.
Friends may gather with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
