MOUNT HOPE ? Betty Jo Rader Hughes, 82, formerly of Beckley, died at 7 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, June and Sanford McNeely, after an extended illness. She was born Aug. 10, 1923, in Meadow Bridge, a daughter of the late William C. Rader and Isabel Law Rader. Mrs. Hughes was the owner-operator of Hughes Packette in Stanaford. She was a member of Beckley Presbyterian Church. A 1941 graduate of Stoco High School, Mrs. Hughes was also a graduate of St. Genevieve College in Asheville, N.C. She was preceded in death by her husband, William P. Hughes, who died in 1979; a brother, William C. Rader Jr.; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Rutledge Rader; and a niece, Sandra Sue Rader Stewart. Survivors include a sister, June R. McNeely and husband, Sanford, of Mount Hope; nieces Christine McNeely Foster and husband, Fred, Peggy Rader Mankin and husband, David, Helen Jo Rader Blackburn and husband, Fred, and Katie Lee Rader Ayers and husband, George; and several great-nieces and nephews. Private service was held Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum, Beckley, with the Rev. Jerry Cook officiating.
