Ruby Jean Smith, 75, of Beckley, formerly of Rainelle, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Born Sept. 6, 1929 in Rainelle, she was a daughter of the late Mazie and Cleve Sanford.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.A. ?Jay? Smith, on Nov. 24, 1990, with whom she had maintained a Nationwide Insurance office for many years. She was a member of the Rainelle United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan Jean Smith; her lifelong friend, Jan E. Cerva of Las Vegas, Nev.; one son, Jim Jay Smith and his wife Joann Smith of Las Vegas, Nev.; and three brothers, Rayborne Sanford of St. Albans, Raleigh Sanford of Smoot, and Charles Rex Sanford of Piedmont, S.C.
Memorial services will be held Friday, Sept. 9, 2005 at 12 noon at the Wallace and Wallace Funeral Chapel, Rainelle, with Pastor Charles Stevens officiating. Burial of her ashes will follow in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends may call Friday, Sept. 9, 2005 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the Wallace and Wallace Funeral Chapel, Rainelle.
