Flora Milam Mathews, 94, of Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away from this life on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, to an eternal life where she will finally see her Savior face-to-face and praise Him for eternity.
Mrs. Mathews was born May 17, 1912, in Raleigh County, W.Va. She was the last surviving sibling of 14 children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Ralph Mathews, the former pastor of Cross Lanes Baptist Church and Grace Baptist Temple, St. Albans.
She is survived by sons, Dickie (Jewell) Mathews of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Glenn (Fleta) Mathews of Robbins, N.C.; daughter, Nancy Kaye (Leonard) Hamrick of Gadsden, Ala.; special sister-in-law, Mrs. Ruth Ann Milam of Dunbar; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Mathews was a charter member of Coosa Valley Baptist Church, Rainbow City, Ala.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, at the Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, 409 Sixth Ave., St. Albans.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. on Friday at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens with the Rev. David Pence officiating. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
