Sylvia Wills Tabor, 94, of Arnett, passed away Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at Raleigh General Hospital after a short illness. Born Nov. 29, 1909, at Zada, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William Edward and Virginia Milam Wills. She attended Mount View High School. She retired as a cook from Mount View Elementary School. Mrs. Tabor was a Christian and a member of Naoma Methodist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was blessed and loved by five generations of grand-children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garrett A. Tabor; a special granddaughter, Becky Cowley Plantz; four sisters, Estelle Wills, Ulla Sawyers, Nell Snodgrass and Jess Pettry; and three brothers, John, Ernest and Joseph E. Wills. She is survived by a son, Garry Dale Tabor and his wife, Bonnie, of Arnett; four daughters, Ardeth Vaughan, Ann Daniel, Mrs. Carl (Phyllis) Bawgus, all of Naoma, and Mrs. Richard (Sue) Cowley of Whitesville; a sister, Edna Wills of Arnett; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Soverign Grace Baptist Church on Saxon Road with the Revs. Ron Acord and Harold Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in the Tabor Family Cemetery at Saxon. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at her residence, 144 Long Branch Rd., Arnett. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Calfee Funeral Home, Beckley.
