ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - Janet McClung Gladwell, 85, died Thursday, July 8, 2004.
She was born in Renick, West Virginia, on August 28, 1918, daughter of the late Emery and Anna Smith McClung. She was the beloved wife of the late W.F. "Monk" Gladwell for 56 years.
Surviving are sons, David M. Gladwell (Penny) of Annapolis, Md., Donal W. Gladwell (Marsha) of Rocky Mount, N.C., Jeffrey G. Gladwell (Judy) of Charleston, S.C., and B. Jay Gladwell (Chur'e) of Miami, Fla.; nine grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 stepgreat-grandchildren; brothers, Joseph B. McClung of Huntington, W.Va., James H. McClung of Elkview, W.Va.; and sisters Helen B. Kvitky of Mission Viejo, Calif., Polly A. Murdoch of Tangent, Ore.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 12, at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home, Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, N.C., with the Rev. Bill Grisham officiating. Graveside service will be 4 p.m. Monday at Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Winston-Salem, N.C.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and other times at the home of Donal Gladwell.
The family requests that memorials are made to First Baptist Church, 200 S. Church Street, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 where Janet was a member.
