MURFREESBORO, TENN. - Merril B. "Poodle" Cavendish, 93, formerly of Hico, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, at a Murfreesboro, Tenn., hospital following a long illness.
Born April 15, 1909, at Ansted, he was the son of the late Walter S. and Nettie Bays Cavendish.
Mr. Cavendish retired in 1972 as principal of Ansted High School, had served in the U.S. Army and enjoyed farming.
He was also a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church of Ansted.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Campbell Cavendish, in 1969 and two sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ellen Beiletti of West Jacksonville, Fla.; a son, James B. "Jim" Cavendish of Murf-reesboro, Tenn.; a brother, Lawrence Cavendish of Beckley; and three grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Wallace & Wallace Chapel in Ansted with Pastor Billy G. Kincaid officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
