HOMINY FALLS - Billy Joe Amick, 63, passed away Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, in Charleston Area Medical Center following a long illness.
Born Sept. 2, 1937, in Hominy Falls, he was the son of the late Tockes Joseph and Bethel Marie Pittsenbarger Amick.
Mr. Amick was a coal miner and timberman.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Delores Lyttle Amick; two daughters, Drema Bess and her husband, Danny, of Winfield and Doris Ellison of Pool; six sons, William Amick of Pool, Bobby Amick and his wife, Nancy, of Snow Hill, Richard Amick and his wife, Brenda, of Bruce Road, David Amick and his wife, Karen, of Salisbury, N.C., Shawn Amick and his wife, Debbie, of Hominy Falls and John Amick and his wife, Paula, of Hominy Falls; a sister, Mary Louise Millard and her husband, Doug, of Hominy Falls; 16 grandchildren, Leia Ann Mills, Caleb Amick, Robert Amick, Stephen Amick, Joshua Amick, Stephanie Amick, Kendra Amick, Sean Bess, Jaimie Bess, Corey Bess, Heather Ellison, Caitlin Gwinn, Billy Amick, Ryan Amick, Cayla Crisp and Coty Crisp; and three great-grandchildren, George and William Mills and Jacob Amick.
Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Wallace and Wallace Chapel, Rainelle, with Pastor Dale Pittsenbarger and the Rev. Troy George officiating. Burial will follow in Amick Cemetery, Leivasy Mountain.
Friends may call one hour before service Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be William, Bobby, Richard, David, Shawn and John Amick.
