RAINELLE — Alden McClung, 85, passed away Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at the home of his daughter, following a long illness.
Born Feb. 14, 1928, at Quinwood, he was the son of the late Joseph D. and Esta Ann Orndorff McClung.
He was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church of Leivasy and a member of the UMWA. Alden was a retired coal miner and a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Holstine McClung in 2004.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Smith (Anthony) of Iron Station, N.C. and Kim Buckland (John) of Rainelle; two sons, Bruce A. McClung (Karen) of Quinwood and Jeff McClung (Brenda) of Rainelle; a sister, Gay Walkup of Inwood; two brothers, Preston McClung of Nettie and Denver McClung of Quinwood; seven grandchildren, Chrissy, Jason, Charlie, Autumn, Lora, Jamie and Dale; nine great-grandchildren, Haley, Faythe, Melody, Austin, Levi, Trinity, Jacob, Wyatt and Emma; three great-great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Junior and Breelynne.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at Wallace & Wallace Chapel of Rainelle, with Pastor Tim McClung officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery, Carl, W.Va.
Friends may gather with the family Wednesday evening, Oct. 30, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wallace & Wallace Chapel, Rainelle.
