HINES - Houston Neal "Huse" McClung, 81, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, following a long illness.
Born June 17, 1922, at Leslie, he was the son of the late Winfred and Pearl Jones McClung.
Mr. McClung was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Normandy Invasion during World War II, and received a Purple Heart. He retired from Leckie Smokeless Coal Co. and was a member of the UMWA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mazie Myrtle Bennett McClung in 1998; two brothers, Everett and Frank McClung; and a grandson, Richie Tincher.
Survivors include three daughters, Helen Osborne and husband, Donald, of Covington, Va., Jeanne Morris of Walkersville, Md., and Linda Harper of White Sulphur Springs; a son, Curtis McClung of Hines; two sisters, Virginia McCracken of Charleston and Marie McClung of Baltimore, Md.; two brothers, Harold McClung of Rupert and Leighton McClung of Oberlin, Ohio; six grandchildren, Keith Tincher, Kathy Thomas and Angela Osborne, all of Roanoke, Va., John Harper of White Sulphur Springs, Wendy Halsey of Roanoke and Cyrena Tincher of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and six great grandchildren. Fondly remembered by devoted neighbors, George and Howard Scruggs.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Mausoleum Chapel, Clintonville, with the Rev. William Cruse officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations of sympathy be made to Greenbrier Valley Hospice, 540 N. Jefferson St., Box 7, Suite D, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
