Edna Mae Martin, 82, of Rupert, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, February 27, 2011, in the Charleston General Hospital.
Born July 7, 1928, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John and Margie Mabe Dillon. Edna was a homemaker and the assistant pastor at the Rupert Family Worship Center who spent much of her time visiting those in the nursing home. She did not meet a stranger and was known for her hugs.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband Jim Cottrell; husband Carl Pauley; and 2 sons James Alvin and Zerny Thomas Cottrell.
Survivors include her husband Lonzo Martin; 3 sons David Cottrell of Rupert, Gary Cottrell (Yolanda) of Joshua Tree, California, and Shawn Pauley of Columbia, South Carolina; 3 daughters Brenda Taylor (Carlos) of Elkview, Fran Todd (James) of Danese and Linda Brooks (Roger) of Alderson; 2 stepsons Lonnie Martin of White Sulphur Springs and Darrell Martin (Adele) of Keil, Wisconsin; 1 brother Alvin Hall (Emogene) of Hernshaw; 15 grandchildren; 8 stepgrandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, at Smathers Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jim Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Martin Cemetery at Crag.
Friends may call one hour before the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
