The couple were married in Reno, Nevada, on Saturday, February 26th, and are now established in their home in Oakland. Mrs. Starr is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl K. Shumate, formerly of Napa but for the past year living in Oakland. She attended local schools and graduated from Napa Union High School with the class of '35. Later she attended Healds Business College in San Francisco and the Merritt Business College in Oakland, and was also a student of the Marco School of the Theatre and the Sybil Marion School of Dancing, both in Oakland. The bride is a sister of Mr. Carl Shumate, Jr., of Salinas and Mr. Robert Shumate of Oakland. Mr. Starr is a son the late Mrs. Vera Moffitt Starr of Oakland and Mr. Robert E. Starr, Jr., of Los Angeles, and a former student at the University of California. The couple spent a brief wedding trip at Soda Springs near Tahoe.
