RAINELLE — Shirley Susan Jones, 51, of Rainelle, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 in the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center at Fairlea, following a short illness.
Born Sept. 20, 1960, at Hinton, she was the daughter of Etha Virginia Osborne Brown of Rainelle and the late William Russell Brown.
Shirley was a faithful member of the Little Sewell Baptist Church at Crag where she sang in the choir and loved her church family. She was a clerk at Foodland before its closing, cleaned for her brother's business, K & G Tires, and later helped care for her mother. Shirley was a loving, caring person who put other's needs before her own.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Jacob Brown and Mabel Brown Harris; and maternal grandparents, Daisy Neff Osborne, Andy and Nancy Mashburn Osborne.
Including her mother, survivors are her son and the joy of her life, Warren Jones of Rainelle; two brothers, Roger Brown of Rainelle and Danny Brown and wife, Cyndi of Bellwood; a half brother, Bill Brown of Crestview, Fla.; a sister, Sharon McClung and husband, Randy of Rainelle; a half sister, Mabel Boggess and husband, George of Orient Hill; and her aunt, Nancy Louise Birchfield of Covington, Va.; nephews, Sheldon Brown and wife, Andrea and Eric Brown, all of Bellwood; nieces, Megan and Chelsea Brown of Bellwood, and great-nieces, Maggie and Abigail Brown of Bellwood.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012, in the Little Sewell Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Collins and Pastor Ray Sexton officiating. Burial will follow in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery at Clintonville.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. tonight (Friday) at Smathers Funeral Chapel.
