FAIRLEA — Carl Andrew Patterson, 82, of 119 Goheen St., Fairlea, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at his home after an extended illness.
Born June 7, 1925, at Hughart, he was a son of the late William Carl and Ada Via Williams Patterson.
Mr. Patterson, along with his wife, was owner and operator of Fairlea Vacuum Service until August 2007. He was of the Baptist faith, was a member of Greenbrier Masonic Lodge No. 42, and was a retired heavy equipment operator and had retired from Greenbrier Recycling.
Other than his parents, Carl was preceded in death by a brother, Red Patterson; and a granddaughter, Joyce Faye.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Kathleen Hines Patterson; daughters, Linda Raines of Johnson City, Tenn., and Martha Jane Hicks and husband, the Rev. Jay Hicks, of Clintonville; a brother, Jimmy Dale Patterson and wife, Kay Ellen, of Conway, S.C.; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home, Lewisburg, with the Rev. Ron Miller and the Rev. Von Sadler officiating. Interment will Masonic graveside rites will be at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends may call noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
