FAIRLEA - Leah P. Smith, 85, of Fairlea, formerly of Quinwood, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at Greenbrier Manor following a long illness. Born Nov. 6, 1919, in Bingham, she was a daughter of the late George Reese and Matilda Katherine Wheeler Walker. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker. She was a member of Lewisburg United Methodist Church and former member of Quinwood United Methodist Church, where she served as youth minister, children's choir director and member of the adult choir. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Neal Smith, in 1983; and three brothers, Leslie, Jarrell and Lonnie Walker. Survivors include a daughter, Claudia Smith of Lewisburg; a granddaughter, Krystal Spence and her husband, David, and a great-granddaughter, Abigail Olivia Spence; six sisters, Lucille Shannon and her husband, Glenn, of Rainelle, Lelia Dancy of Lewisburg, Louise Bragg and her husband, Jim, of Nettie, Beatrice Dorsey and her husband, Roy, of Nettie, Helen Bevins and her husband, Lee, of Hinesville, Ga., and Hilda Copen and her husband, Gary, of Belleglade, Fla.; and three brothers, Darrell Walker and his wife, Georgia, of Covington, Va., Bernard Walker and his wife, Barbara, of Jacksonville, N.C., and Basil Walker and his wife, Patty, of Bluefield. Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Wallace Memorial Mausoleum, Clintonville, with Dr. Dexter Taylor officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum. Friends may call one hour before service Sunday at the mausoleum. There will be no evening visitation. Flowers will be accepted and donations can be made to the West Virginia Alzheimer's Association, 1111 E. Lee St., Charleston, WV 25301. Arrangements by Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Rainelle.
