Vaughn Eldridge Blagg
FARMINGTON -- Vaughn Eldridge Blagg, 96, of Shinnston, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at the United Hospital Center in Clarksburg. He was born March 3, 1907, in Braxton County, the son of the late Henry Hayes and Rachel Pullens Blagg.
Mr. Blagg was a coal miner, having retired in 1967 from Bethlehem Steel's Idamay Mine with 43 years in the mining industry. He attended the Assembly of God Church in Sierra Vista, Arizona, while living there, and more recently attended the Jewel City Church in Shinnston. He was a member of the UMWA local 1501.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Neva Hensley Blagg, whom he married September 8, 1930; 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Aaron Goldstein, San Antonio, TX, Ruth "Inky" and Gerald McDonald, Shinnston, Doris and Ray Kendall, Sierra Vista, AZ, Diana and Paul Rotkis, Anchorage, Alaska; 1 son and daughter-in-law, E. "Buck" and Joan Blagg, Idamay, 2 brothers, Raymond Blagg, Columbus, OH, Henry Blagg, Salem; 2 sisters, Trecie Beamer, Sutton, Athalene Helmick, Salem; 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Imogene McCullough, and 3 sisters, Mary Johnson, Beulah Rhea, and Lula Cunningham.
Friends will be received at the Calvary Temple Assembly of God at Swisher Hill on Friday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. where funeral services will be held Saturday, April 26, 2003 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tim Shuttlesworth officiating. Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery at Enterprise.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Dent-Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington.
