RUPERT - Arvel Leroy Crookshanks, 71, of Rupert died May 18, 1998, at home after a short illness.
He was a retired miner, a Navy veteran and a Baptist.
Surviving: wife, Bonnie King Crookshanks; sons, John "Rod" Crookshanks of White Sulphur Springs, Ernest "Willie" Crookshanks of Kieffer; daughters, Charlene Roy of Randolph, Ala., Karen Crookshanks of Tampa, Fla.; sisters, Mildred Hunter of Kieffer, Margie Hunter of Rupert, Velma Curtis of Lexington, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Smathers Funeral Chapel, Rainelle, with the Rev. Gary Eisenman officiating. Burial will be in Burns Cemetery, Kieffer. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Greenbrier Valley Hospice, 540 N. Jefferson St., Lewisburg, W.Va. 24901.
