Courthouse Call Fatal To Phipps
Funeral arrangements are incomplete for George Calvin Phipps, 74, of Sand Lick, who died after suffering an apparent heart attack in the Raleigh County Courthouse at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
He was born June 2, 1889, the son of the late Jess and Sarah Milam Phipps.
A life-long resident of Sand Lick, he was a farmer.
He was a member of the Sand Lick Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Mary Athey of Denver, Colo., Mrs. David Daniel of Arlington, Va.. Mrs. Herbert Daniel of Sand Lick, Mrs. June Price of Clayton, Ohio, and Mrs. Orville Lucas of Maiden; nine sons, Jimmy, Barney, James, and Harold, all of Clayton, Ohio, Carl and Joe, both of Denver, Frank and Grover, both of Harper, and Lacy of Dayton, Ohio; a brother, Ward of Shady Side, Md.; and two sisters, Mrs. Florence Dillon and Mrs. Lora Bailey, both of Florida.
The body is at the Melton Mortuary pending completion of arrangements.

PHIPPS, George Calvin; age 74, of Sand Lick. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Mattesville Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Phipps Cemetery at Sand Lick. Arrangements by Melton Mortuary.
