Dr. McCutcheon Dies In Nicholas
SUMMERSVILLE - Dr. Luther Newton McCutcheon, Nicholas County druggist for 50 years, prior
to his retirement in 1952, died yesterday in a Charleston hospital following a long illness.
Dr. McCutcheon, 89, taught school in Nicholas County for five years and served as a county deputy sheriff.
A graduate of the former Kentucky School of Medicine in Louisville and Valparaiso College School of Pharmacy at Valparasio, Ind., he was a member of the Richwood Presbyterian Church, Camden Masonic Lodge and a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner.
Surviving are a son, Bernard N., of Summersville, executive vice president of the Nicholas County Bank; a daughter, Miss Eugenia of Charleston; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. in Summersville Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Walter Ward White. Burial will be in Groves Cemetery here.
The body is at White Funeral Home in Summersville.
