RUPERT ? Woodrow Yoakum, 90, passed away Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, following a short illness.
Born Feb. 17, 1916, at Rupert, he was the son of the late Cletus and Ada Moses Yoakum.
He was retired from Westmoreland Coal Co. with 41 years of service, was a member of the UMWA and was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl, Arnold ?Champ? and Festus Yoakum; and a sister, Mary Ruffner.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Gilkerson Yoakum; three sons, David R., Morris A. and Chris Yoakum and wife, Rhonda, all of Rupert; two sisters, Blanche Whitlow of McRoss and Betty O?Dell of Beckley; five grandchildren, Tearsa Keatley and husband, Michael, David Yoakum and wife, Leah, Derek, Dylan and Dustin Yoakum, all of Rupert; and two great-grandchildren, Michael and Kaitlyn Yoakum, both of Rupert.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Smathers Funeral Chapel, Rainelle, with the Rev. Lowell Keeney officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
