Beckley Resident Feted At Dinner
PAX (RNS) - PAX (RNS) - Mr. and Mrs. Larry Kelly of Pax were among the ones who honored her grandmother, Mrs. Minnie Lucas of Beckley, with a dinner Sunday in observance of her 75th birthday anniversary which was Jan. 5.
Born at lower Willis Branch, Mrs. Lucas is the daughter of the late Jim and Ida McVey Shephard. To this union Mrs. Lucas and a brother, Grover Shephard, were born. Mrs. Lucas has two half sisters, Mrs. Gertie Maynor of Willis Branch and Mrs. Ivory Hamilton of Miami, Fla.
Mrs. Lucas was married to Henry Haley. She has daughter, Mrs. Goldie Cook of Baltimore, Md.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was married second time to C. L. Lucas and lived at Glen Daniel. He died Feb. 8, 1967.
Also honoring Mrs. Lucas Sunday were her stepchildren and families, Mr. and Mrs. Acie Stewart of Pineville, Mrs. Emma Stewart of Jesse, Mrs. Lillie Dillon of Mount Tabor, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Lucas and son of Beckley and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Dillon and daughter, Lori, of Bradley.

MRS. MINNIE HALEY LUCAS, 96, OF PAX died June 24, 1994, at Hilltop Nursing Home after a long illness. She was a former restaurant owner and a homemaker. She was a member of Calloway Heights Baptist Church, Beckley. Surviving: daughter, Goldie H. McGown of Pax; stepdaughter, Lillie Dillion of Mount Tabor; stepson, Claude Lucas of Beckley; four grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Long Branch United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Parker, the Rev. James Reed and the Rev. Gerald Lanham officiating. Burial will be in Pax Community Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Rose-Quesenberry Funeral Home, Beckley, and one hour prior to service at the church.
