Quincy Phipps
GARRETT - Quincy Phipps, 92, died Thursday at 11:10 p.m. at Miller's Merry Manor, Garrett.
Mr. Phipps had worked as a log cutter and coal miner, and also worked for McCray Refrigeration in Kendallville from 1953 until it closed.
He was born Aug. 22, 1906, in Lanark, W.Va., to the late Walter and Lotta (Smith) Phipps. On June 2, 1936, in Marfrance, W.Va., he married Geneva Gertrude King, who preceded him in death June 13, 1979. Two sisters, Beulah Taylor and Beatrice Hutchins, are also deceased.
Surviving are two sisters, Audrey Wahl of Fairdale, W.Va., and Estelle Garrett of Fayetteville, W.Va.; a brother-in-law, Roy King of Garrett; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Berhalter-Hutchins Funeral Home in Kendallville Monday from 3-6 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home, with pastor David Jay officiating.
Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City. Memorial gifts may be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
