MRS. CARRIE SMITH O'DELL, 80, of Quinwood, Greenbrier County, died Sept. 24, 1986, in Humana Hospital Greenbrier Valley, Fairlea, after a long illness. She was a teacher at Crighton Elementary School with 45 years' service and was a member of Quinwood United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for 25 years. She was a charter member and past president of Iola Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a member of state Retired Teachers' Association, national and state educational associations, was past president of Greenbrier County Educational Association and was delegate representing Greenbrier County to the West Virginia Silver-Haired Legislature. She was a charter member of Quinwood Emergency Services, charter member of Quinwood Volunteer Fire Department and Quinwood Firemanettes. She was a member of Quinwood Rod and Gun Club and was president of local chapter of State Board of Aging. Surviving: sister, Mrs. Emma Lou Parker of Charlottesville, Va .; brother, J.A. "Jay" Smith Jr. of Rainelle; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Wallace-Wallace Funeral Home, Rainelle, with the Rev. Larry Rodgers officiating. Burial will be in the End of the Trail Cemetery, Clintonville.
