Mrs. Bessie Belle Crane, 88, of Renick died Saturday, May 26 in Humana Hospital Greenbrier Valley, Fairlea, following a long illness.
Born June 24, 1896, in Dickerson County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Pleasant and Mineva Cochran Viers.
Mrs. Crane was a lifelong resident of Renick and a member of the Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church of Ronceverte.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Irene Cohenour, and a brother, Walter Viers.
Survivors include a stepmother, Ethel Viers of Lewisburg; three daughters, Ina Franklin of Dover, Pa., Christina Mills of Brookston, Ind. and Macel Williams of Renick; five sons, Orville Crane of Renick, Alstin Crane of Clintonville and Garland, Lanford and Harold Crane, all of Lewisburg; four sisters, Myrtle George of Baltimore, Md., Eva Price of Gallipolis, Ohio, Mary Viers of Abington, Va. And Edna Clemons of Bristol, Tenn.; four halfbrothers, Carl Viers of Hamstead, Md., Leonard Viers of Cockeysville, Md., Russell Viers of Glenarm, Md. And John Viers of Lewisburg; five halfsisters, Nora Smith of Roanoke, Va., Pauline Weldon of Cockeysville, Md., Helen Cole of Charleston, Vandora Baldwin of St. Albans, Josephine Jarrett of South Charleston, Ohio; 26 grandchildren, several great grand-children and some greatgreat grandchildren.
Services will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Elder Jerry Clifton, Elder Arvil Neeley and the Rev. Leroy Crane officiating. Burial will be in the McMillion Church Cemetery.
