CRAWLEY - Dewey Shortridge, 91, died Saturday, June 2, at a Fairlea hospital following a short illness.
Born Oct. 3, 1898, in Pikeville, Ky., he was the son of the late James and Sarah Stiltner Shortridge.
Mr. Shortridge was a retired coal miner.
He was preceded in death by one sister and seven brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Delta Walkup Shortridge; six daughters, Helen Brackenrich of Crawley, Hazel Weltzel of Renick, Hattie Amato of Baltimore, Md, Hester Francello of White Marsh, Md., Willie Dean Mullins of Rupert and Wilma Gladwell of Chesterland, Ohio; two sons, Dewey Shortridge, Jr. of Belair, Md. and Dennis Shortridge of Freeport, Fla.; a sister, Grace Keiffer of Pataskla, Ohio; a brother, Henry Shortridge of Edgewood, Md.; 25 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Wallace and Wallace Chapel in Rainelle with the Rev. Leroy Crance officiating. Burial will be in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville.
Friends may call today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Rainelle.
