Lowell Judson Gillespie, 88, of Belle died Feb. 9, 2003, in Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, after a long illness. Mr. Gillespie was a retired electrician from E.I. DuPont Chemical Plant, Belle. He was a 57-year member of Judson Baptist Church, Belle, where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher and served on many boards. He was a member of Chelyan Lodge 58 AF&AM, Scottish Rite bodies and AARP. He was loved by and much loved his family and saw God's creation in nature. He was an Army Signal Corps veteran of World War II. He enjoyed the family farm and planted thousands of trees. He was the fourth of 12 children and was saved at Sewell Baptist Church in 1923. Mr. Gillespie is survived by his wife, Millie Mangus Gillespie; sons, Mark Gillespie of Louisville, Ohio, Gene Gillespie of Richmond, Va., Neil Gillespie of Fort Worth, Texas; a daughter, Lynn Morrison of Charleston; a brother, C.H. Gillespie of Berea, Ky.; sisters, Ruby Devrick of Point Pleasant, Vergie Spiker of Kennett Square, Pa., Rachel Lee of Germantown, Ohio; grandchildren, Scott, Melissa, David and Seth Gillespie and J.D. Morrison; and great-grandchildren Megan, Justin and Andrew Gillespie. Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Fidler & Frame Funeral Home, Belle, with the Rev. Ron Burnsworth and Rev. Alvin Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
