RAINELLE -- J. Gordon Martin, 82, passed away Monday morning at GVMC, Fairlea, following a long illness.
Born Jan. 31, 1922, at Rupert, he was the son of the late Russell G. and Jessie M. Fuller Martin.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Georgia Lee Martin, in 1990.
Mr. Martin was past-president of the Rainelle Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Lions Club, Rainelle Moose Lodge, Midland Trail Lodge No. 166 AF and AM, was formerly on the Board of Directors of Western Greenbrier National Bank and Greenbrier Valley Bank.
He was a member of the Rainelle United Methodist Church and former owner and manager of Martin Motor Company of Rainelle.
Survivors include his wife, Betty L. Cumby Martin of Rainelle; two stepdaughters, Christy Brown of Rainelle and Amy Hellems of Crawley; a stepson, Roger Martin of Shenandoah, Va.; six step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Wallace & Wallace Chapel in Rainelle, with Pastor Allen Johnson officiating. Entombment will follow in Wallace Memorial Mausoleum, Clintonville.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations of sympathy be made to Rainelle United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 646, Rainelle, WV 25962.
