Layton (Lee) Ellis, 81, of Corliss passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
He was born on July 6, 1944 at Smoot; he was the son of the late Acy Garnet Ellis and Lora Louella Burns Ellis
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson, John Ellis; sister, Jessie Juniper and a brother, Dodrill Ellis.
Lee attended the Minnie Belle Baptist Church of Corliss, he worked as a strip mine mechanic and was a member of UMWA. He enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting and going to auctions. He was a very family oriented man who loved his family and was a big jokester to all who knew him well. His greatest enjoyment was being with the love of his life, his wife Glenna.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Glenna Gipson Ellis; daughters, Mary Hundley and Tammy Reichard; sons, Gary (Melissa) Ellis and Terry (Robin) Ellis; sisters, Bonnie Hartley, Mary Catherine Rhodes and Margaret Ellis; brothers, Lawrence Ellis and Leslie "Leck" Ellis; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; extended family and friends.
Service will be 12:00 noon on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at Minnie Belle Baptist Church, Corliss with Pastor Justin Seay and Pastor John Hamrick officiating. Burial will follow at Ellis Family Cemetery, River Rd., Corliss. Friends may gather with the family at the church on Saturday evening from 7:00 until 9:00.
