Rebecca Ann Leber Wed To David Crookshanks
The Memorial Baptist Church, Richmond, was the setting on Saturday, August 5, at 4 o'clock for the wedding of Miss Rebecca Ann Leber of Richmond and David Oakley Crookshanks of Covington.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Julia E. Leber and the late Mr. Willie Thomas Leber of Richmond. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Oakley James Crookshanks, Covington.
The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Charles W. Gibson, pastor of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Manassas Park, before an altar banked with palms and baskets of chrysanthemums, gladioli and babys breath interspersed with candlabras.
Miss Delaris Livesay played the traditional wedding marches and furnished the accompaniment for the soloist, Mrs. Stanley Hicks, who sang, "Because," The Story of Ruth," and "'The Wedding Prayer."
Given in marriage by her uncle, Hubert Culberth Eagles of Richmond, the bride wore a gown with a catheral train of peau de soie with a portrait neckline trimmed with Point de Venise lace. Her veil was a lace trimmed mantilla. She carried a cascade of roses and stephanotis centered with an orchid.
Mrs. Iva Jeannette Marshall, sister of the bride, of Richmond, was matron of honor. She was attired in a sky blue organza over taffeta street length dress, with matching headband, and carried a cresent bouquet of peach gladioli.
Miss Eula Campbell of Covington and Miss Sybil Stevens of Bassett were bridesmaids, and wore gowns like that of the honor attendant and carried flowers the same as the matron of honor.
The flower girl, Renee Elizabeth Marshall of Richmond wore a sky blue organza dress. She carried a basket of rose petals. The ringbearer was Billy Thomas Marshall, of Richmond.
Mr. Crookshanks was his son's best man. Ushers were Massie C. Stinson of Richmond, Billy Ben Vincent of Emporia, James O. Whelan of Petersburg and John W. Vaughan, Jr., of Portsmouth.
Mrs. Leber attended the wedding in a dusty rose street length gown of silk shantung and lace with matching accessories and a white rose bud corsage. The mother of the bridegroom wore a mauve lace over taffeta gown with white accessories and roses at her shoulder.
A reception was held, following the ceremony, at the church. Miss Jo-Ann Linkenhoker, Miss Judith Eagles, Miss Janet West, Miss Linda West, Miss Joan Woodcock, all of Richmond and Miss Carol Eastman of Portsmouth were honorary attendants who served at the reception.
For the wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S. C., the bride traveled in a blue shantung dress with white accessories and the orchid lifted from her cascade.
The new Mrs. Crookshanks attended Manchester High School and Bluefield College and is a graduate from Westhampton College.
Her husband was graduated from Covington High School in 1957. He was graduated from Bluefield College and the University of Richmond.
The couple is living in Richmond. where the bridegroom is in management training with Giant Foods Inc.
