RUPERT ? Mary B. Amick, 77, of Pocahontas Street, Rupert, W.Va., passed away Friday afternoon, May 2, 2008, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, following a long illness.
Born June 29, 1930, at Carl, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Burton and Lily Branchie Pittsenbarger Conard.
She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a homemaker. Mary loved spending time with her family, gardening, and listening to George Jones, her favorite country singer.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Osby Amick, in 1969; her companion, Grover Sanford, in 1981; three sisters, Maple Crocker, Joyce Anderson, and Madeline Overstreet; and her four brothers, Guy, Frank, Benton, and Billy Conard.
Mary?s family would like to acknowledge and show their appreciation for the tender and loving care given to her by her daughter, Wendi Sanford. They are also very grateful for the care shown to Mrs. Amick by her caregivers, Linda Barker and Kevin Grose.
Survivors include three daughters, Luticia Hager of Rupert, W.Va., Lisa Russell of Rupert, W.Va., and Wendi Sanford of Rupert; a son, Rodney Amick and wife Angie of Rupert; a sister, Margaret Heaster of Keiffer; five grandchildren, William and wife April, April, Logan, Isaiah, and James; and a great-grandchild, Shannon.
Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Wallace and Wallace Chapel in Rainelle, with Rev. Robert Nolen officiating. Burial will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.
