ATV crash kills Roane teen
ORMA - A Roane County teen-ager died Tuesday from injuries received a week earlier in an all-terrain vehicle accident outside Orma.
Amanda Leann Hunt, 17, of Spencer was riding on the back of the ATV driven by Jason Conrad, 18, of Orma at about 2 a.m. May 6, according to police.
Conrad lost control of the vehicle on Euclid-Nicut Road and ran off the road. Conrad received lacerations and a broken ankle. Hunt died from head injuries.
A spokesman for the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department said Conrad admitted he had two beers before driving the vehicle. An investigation of the incident is continuing.
Hunt was a student at Calhoun County High School and was a Protestant.
Surviving: stepfather and mother, Billy D. and Becky Dye King of Leatherbark; father and stepmother, Richard Lee and Leigh Hunt of Evans; maternal grandmother, Mina Rhodes of Charleston; sisters, Kathy Sue Hunt of Kentuck, Rhonda Kay Hively of Elizabeth; brothers, Elmer Brian of Ripley, Kenny Lee of Kentuck, Kevin Wayne of Hartville, Ohio, Richard Lee "Bub" of Denmar.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Robert Shannon officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery, near Arnoldsburg. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
