STEPHENSON — Mr. Richard Wayne Cook, 76, of Stephenson, died Saturday, February 13, 2010, at the VA Medical center in Beckley.
Born December 7, 1933, at Corinne, he was the son of the late Raymond Marion and Margaret Phipps Cook.
Richard retired as a Diesel Mechanic working for Carter Machinery. He was a member of the Basin Freewill Baptist Church at Basin and was the lead singer for the Home Quartet for approximately 25 years. He was a Veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Navy. He was a lifelong resident of Wyoming County and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Survivors wife of 44 years, Astor McKinney Cook of New Richmond; sons, Mark Anthony Cook and wife Lesia of Basin, Larry Shane Cook and wife Brucina of Stephenson; grandsons, Mark Anthony Cook II, Tanner Shane Cook; brothers, Byron Cook and wife Sandy of Belleview, Ky., Ray Cook and wife Sharon of Nicholasville, Ky., Kenneth Cook of Summerville, Va.; sisters, Marian Bell of Pickerington, Ohio, Rachel Perdue and husband Paul of Stephenson; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2010, from Basin Freewill Baptist Church in Basin with Pastor Grant Prince and Rev. Hugh McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in the Willie Mills Cemetery at Basin.
Friends may visit with the family 6 to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, at the Church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Marvin, Scott and Alan Mills, Adam and Justin Perdue and Harlan McKinney.
